Употребление артиклей с географическими названиями

ЛЕКЦИЯ 

  1. Названия континентов, территорий (также с такими определениями как northern, southern, western, eastern, central, minor, south-west, Latin, etc.) – без артиклей:
    Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Minor 
  2. Названия стран, городов, деревень, провинций - без артиклей:
    France, China, California, Kashmir, Delhi
    Артикль также не употребляется, если перед именами стоят такие определения как
    north(ern), south(ern), west(ern), east(ern), ancient, old, central:
    Old England, Ancient Greece, Southern France

    Исключения:
    The FRG, the Argentine, the Ukraine, the Congo, the Netherlands, the Cameroon,
    the Sudan, the Senegal
    The Crimea, the Caucasus, the Ruhr, the Tyrol, the Riviera, the Transvaal
    The Hague 
  3. Названия океанов, морей, проливов, каналов, рек и озер – с определенным артиклем:
